Slam Poetry and Safe Babies

So last night was the slam finals. First round I performed my new piece, Baby Girl. I was in third going into the second round with Missie and Jeremy Loveday ahead of me, Jane Bee in fourth and Steve Thompson and Sasha tied for fifth. After a quick "haiku-off" Steve took the fifth spot in the second round. Final results went, Missie in first, me in SECOND, Jeremy in third, Steve in fourth and Jane in fifth. That means Jane is the alternate but it sounds like Jeremy might be in Korea for it in which case Jane will be on the team. Oh and did I mention that means I'M ON THE FREAKING SLAM TEAM? No? Oh...well...I am...no big deal. But seriously folks, I'm pretty excited and felt really good about the way things went down last night.

Yesterday and today I was at Safe Babies training which is a workshop on working with alcohol and drug affected babies. It's so interesting and I'm learning a lot. This morning I performed my poem at it and it got really good feedback so that was exciting. Anyway, it's been a busy few days for me so that's my whole update for now. See ya!

I'm trying my hardest to make it to Calgary. The more I think about it the more I realize how amazing it will be!

See you at the team dinner.
